About Us

It was time to stop wishing things were different and do something, to give a little back.

Born and raised in the middle east and having experienced the Gulf War and then gone on to study in India, live in the UK, and relocate to New York with a fair bit of traveling in between, I have come across many cultures and customs. The one thing that stands out all over is we're all human. We're blessed in different ways; some with better health, others with peace and happiness, and others with more wealth and opportunity. We're all striving to make a better life and provide for our families.

For long enough, I had hoped how things could be different and soon discovered its starts with me. And so I decided to do what I could to bring about change in someone else's life and started with paying it forward for someone else's education.

Mission

My Hesed Inc. reinvents education through giving. Dedicated candidates from unfortunate circumstances with proven track record and determination to achieve are given a chance through assistance with school fees and small upstart monetary support.

What We Are Looking to Accomplish

We’re looking to find ways to identify and support children from poorer backgrounds through their schooling or graduate studies, giving them a chance to get out of the cycle of poverty.

As part of the program, aside from assisting school kids we would also look to assist older folk with an initial start-up deposit to set up a small business (or get a certification exam completed) so they can be self-sufficient, allowing them to send their children to good schools and colleges so their children and their children’s children escape poverty.

Coming back full circle, this allows each individual we assist to become more accountable for their future and their family’s prosperity and hopefully do the same favor for another person in need.

Collaborations

In the medium to long term, we plan to collaborate with like-minded, mature non-profit organizations to make a bigger impact in our community.

Beneficiaries

Recipients of our assistance are families from poor and less fortunate communities of any background and demographics; though, we would start in areas we are familiar with and are able to carefully vet applicants from.

Duplicate Missions

There are plenty of other organizations, including various faith groups and other international non-profits, that are active and operate in this area; however, we are looking to support candidates and track their progress over time so each donor sees a tangible difference as a result of their giving.

Key Difference in Our Mission

· Keeping candidates and their progress close to heart

· Pro-bono board and staff to keep expenses low in order to maximize program funds

· Key component would be journaling and tracking candidates’ progress over time. We want to be able to measure and quantify the difference we are making

Common theme we were hearing was, often, there was no way of tracking how the money was spent and that only a portion of the donation went to the person in need (due to administration costs, etc.). We want to try and change that as much as possible.

Fundraising plans

· Running charity events, such as run for a cause, bake a cake for sale, etc.

Board members

Role of the board would be to help keep My Hesed Inc. on mission as well as:

· Provide oversight

· Offer governance

· Oversee financial matters

· Ensure accountability

We will continue to build our board to ensure the above facets of the organization are well governed.
